Fallow deer in the dunes
I came across this Fallow Deer during a walk in the Amsterdam water supply dunes.
The fallow deer is an even-toed mammal from the deer family. The scientific name of the species was published as Cervus dama in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus. Between the ice ages, fallow deer lived as far away as Western Europe, among other places, but the last ice age drove the animals to Asia Minor. (wikipedia)
Fallow deer are commonly found in the Amsterdam water supply dunes. they live in packs.
Always beautiful when you manage to capture it in its natural habitat.
