A 16:9 evening light photograph over Holtveen, located in National Park Dwingelderveld, the largest wet heathland area in Western Europe. Located in the Dutch province of Drenthe, in the Dwingeloo, Ruinen and Beilen triangle.
Wet lowlands and high sand ridges alternate in the vast Dwingelderveld. You will find heathland, woods, juniper bushes, shifting sands and over forty fens. Some of these fens originated in the ice age, others are the result of peat excavation.
