This image contains 48 flags: all independent countries recognised by the international community, larger than one square kilometre, which are at least partly in Europe, are represented.
Here, the flags of those countries are arranged in such a way that the borders blur: colours, planes and lines blend into each other and abstract patterns emerge.
The whole is then slightly distorted by a wave pattern, creating the illusion that the flags are waving.
