In the clear light of autumn, a panorama opens up that seems as if time is holding its breath. Lake Eissee lies still like the polished eye of the mountains, a mirror that reflects every contour, every fold of the landscape with subtle devotion. Above it rise the grey walls of the Grosser Wilden, 2379 metres high, a guardian of stone that has collected wind and weather for thousands of years.
The Hochvogel and Rosszahn group stretches like a jagged horizon across the Oytal, where the slopes are gently bathed in the golden brown of autumn. Warmth and coolness, light and shade interweave to form a silent song that only the Allgäu Alps know. The air is clear, almost transparent, and carries the scent of dry grass and old rock.
Europe may be large, Bavaria wide and the Allgäu rich in valleys - but here, by this lake, the world seems smaller, more intense, closer together. Every stone, every rib of rock tells of the patience of nature, of movements that are older than history. And while the mountains lower their reflections into the icy lake, a moment is created that lingers: a hint of eternity in the changing light of autumn.
