English landscape with grassland and hills. In the foreground is a square roughwood post against which stands a simple iron fence. A small chain link keeps it closed. Towards the wooden post begins a traditional stone wall separating almost all the plots. There is sunshine and in the distance we can see some clouds against a blue sky. A few telephone wires run through the sky. The cattle, almost always sheep, have been taken to another field.
This is an image where the attention is drawn to the distance when you can't actually see it clearly. The calmness and simplicity is provided by the colour perspective and the restrained retro-like colours. And the raw materials, like the rusting metal.
We are in the west of England, travelling along the A684 from Kendal to Sedbergh. The green hills between the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District.
