About ‘Engaging the future’ by Sabrine Strijbos
I was so impressed when I first saw a lion in the wild, on a safari trip in South Africa. Their sense of family, the urgency of the hunt. This would be the subject of many of my paintings.
I painted this lion with a palette knife and acrylic paint. I also use metalic paint, which makes the lioness glow as if the sun warms her fur.

Painting gives me a feeling of joy, of freedom, of relaxation. As soon as I put a snow white, new canvas on the easel, I only think about the canvas. What shall I make, what inspiration do I have? I like variety, I have many interests. That diversity is also reflected in the different techniques and colours I use. Some people find this confusing. I love that confusion, it gives color to many subjects.
