Émile Munier (1840-1895) was a French painter of academic realism, known for his sensitive depictions of children, often in a domestic setting. He was a pupil of William-Adolphe Bouguereau, whose influence can be seen in Munier's delicate painting style and idealised figures. His works are characterised by technical precision, warm colours and a loving atmosphere. Munier was particularly popular for his touching portraits of childlike innocence.
