The northernmost point of Texel is marked by lighthouse Eierland. This lighthouse, which is only 34 metres high, stands on top of a dune, making it highly visible for shipping and other lighthouses. The lighthouse had become necessary during construction in 1864, because many ships had perished in the passage between Texel and Vlieland.…
