About this work:
The complex on the former island of Philae gained great notoriety when it was completely dismembered and placed a little further away on the higher island of Agilkia. The temple had been partially submerged since the low dam was built in the early 20th century, but was in danger of disappearing completely into the water due to the high dam. UNESCO saved it from destruction and now the complex is a World Heritage Site.
About Jeroen Berendse:
In daily life, I am a marketer. That means listening and watching customers carefully and using that knowledge to come up with relevant solutions. As a photographer, I basically do the same thing, with the difference that I listen to myself especially well.
Photography is a way of telling a story. Shaped into the perfect still image. A good photo takes your mind to a special place in the world, an event that makes you smile or puts your creative mind to work. And because this is very personal, the same photo evokes a different experience and feeling in everyone. In the photographer but also in the viewer.
My portfolio contains photos of many different subjects. You can find my complete portfolio in my shop at Werk aan de Muur and on my website www.jeroenberendse.nl.
