A tribute to Charles Eames (1907-1978) he was an American designer, architect and film director. Together with his second wife Ray, he is responsible for many classic designs of the 20th century such as the Lounge chair, Aluminium chair and Plastic chair. The duo played a prominent role in the modernisation of the United States in the post-war years. The Wire Chair pictured is a welded steel wire design designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1951 as a variation on the theme of the one-piece organically shaped seat shell. The duo also have wonderful art objects to their credit, of which the Eames house bird is probably the most famous.
