About the artwork

Gebouw Astoria is een monumentaal Jugendstil-gebouw aan Keizersgracht 174-176 in Amsterdam, gebouwd in 1904-1905 in opdracht van, en als hoofdkantoor voor de Eerste Hollandsche Levensverzekerings Bank. Het gebouw, op de hoek van de Keizersgracht en Leliegracht, diende later tevens 15 jaar als hoofdkwartier van Greenpeace. In 2001 werd het aangewezen als rijksmonument.

Met zes etages en een maximale hoogte van 37 meter was gebouw Astoria een van de eerste kantoortorens in Nederland. Het gebouw werd ontworpen door H.H. Baanders en Gerrit van Arkel. Beide architecten ontwierpen veel gebouwen in Amsterdam in een voor hen typerende sobere, Nederlandse versie van de Jugendstil, later bekend geworden als de Nieuwe Kunst.

Het gebouw heeft een met koper bedekt dak met een torentje en een decoratief ijzeren nokhek waarin de goudkleurige letters EHLB (voor Eerste Hollandsche Levensverzekerings Bank) verwerkt zijn. Het mozaïek hoog op de gevel toont een beschermengel met twee andere figuren.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
