Dutch coast and dunes, Here it render the Noordhollands Duinreservaat and is one of the largest and most versatile nature reserves in the Netherlands. It stretches along the North Holland coast and offers a dune landscape that surprises again and again. Here you will find high, undulating dunes covered with marram grass, vast valleys where the light enters beautifully, and hidden places where silence prevails. The landscape has been shaped by centuries of cooperation between wind, sand and sea, and shows the constant dynamics of nature.
Between the dunes are damp valleys and small pools that serve as habitats for rare plants and animals. Orchids, butterflies and songbirds find their home here, while rabbits regularly cross the paths. In the sky, buzzards and gulls soar, carried by the thermals rising above the sand.
The dune landscape changes with every season. In spring the valleys turn fresh green, in summer flowering plants add a splash of colour, and in autumn and winter low sun and fog create an almost picturesque atmosphere.
For hikers and cyclists, there are countless routes that take you through this unique landscape. Every bend reveals a new setting: the vastness of the coast, the seclusion of a valley or the vastness of the open dunes. The Noordhollands Duinreservaat is thus a place where nature, tranquillity and endless horizons come together.
