About the artwork

Realistic painting in acrylic of the Duesenberg Model J from around 1928, painted by the artist Paul Meijering - The original painting is 90 x 120 cm and available for sale.

The Duesenberg Model J was a passenger car produced by Duesenberg. The Model J was the first car produced by Duesenberg after it was taken over by Erret Cord. In total 470 were built.

The Model J was introduced in december 1928 on the car show of New York. Because the technique used in this car was very advanced and the performance higher than any other passenger car of the time, the car was immediately very popular with the public. The car had a 420cid (6884cc) 8 in line engine with double overhead camshaft and four valves per cylinder. This engine produced 265 hp and gave the car a top speed of 187 km/h.
The only reason they didn't sell as many cars was because of the price tag: the chassis alone cost $8,500 and depending on the bodywork you wanted, the price could go up to $25,000, which was a huge amount at the time.

After the introduction of the car, Fred Duesenberg continued to work on the Model J, adding a supercharger, among other things. This new model would be sold in 1929 as the Model SJ.

In 1932 August Duesenberg was killed after driving his Model J off the road.
