De Vliehors is a vast nature reserve on Vlieland.
This huge sandy plain is also called 'the Sahara of the High North'.
This is where Vlieland's drowning cottage stands. It was erected here as a shelter for drowning people in 1890.
Nowadays it is a small beachcomber museum.
They both have a huge appeal for me as a photographer to photograph them in all kinds of weather conditions which is not always easy because they are difficult to reach.
