Sunset on the salt marshes near the Eems at Uithuizen. A beautiful piece of Groningen outside the dikes where it is good to stay.
At low tide large parts of the mudflats become dry. And because of the dryness the silt falls apart in a kind of craquelé which creates small channels where the water runs along.
The low vantage point makes the channels look gigantic, but appearances are deceptive. The sun beautifully illuminates the edges and reflects light in the silt.
I have been photographing since I was little, but the beauty of nature is something I really started to see by actively photographing landscapes and nature. By consciously standing still and taking in your surroundings you learn to look and feel differently.
