This photograph was taken from the top of Peñón de Ifach as dramatic rain clouds approached the coast. Due to the clouds, the landscape is bathed in subtle blue and grey tones. The combination of clouds and coastal landscape, but also the feeling of calm before the storm inspired me to take this photo.
The rock called Peñón de Ifach (Penyal d'Ifac) is the symbol of the coastal town of Calpe. It is also a popular destination for hikers and climbers. From its summit, which is 332 meters above sea level, there are fantastic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the coast. The Peñón de Ifach is the smallest nature reserve in mainland Spain. Because of the excellent vantage points and the impressive rock formations, the nature park is one of my favourite destinations on the Costa Blanca.
My photographic work is inspired by long hikes in the Alicante province in Spain. When I'm on the mountain ridge of the Peñón de Ifach and let my gaze wander into the distance, the clocks seem to tick more slowly.
The moody sky announces a change in weather and stands for the permanent change in nature. This landscape shot is designed to bring scenic cloudscapes and the Mediterranean charm of the Costa Blanca into your home.
