Potsdamer Platz was located between East and West Berlin after the Second World War. It was located directly on the border, which was divided by the Berlin Wall, and thus became a symbol of the division of Germany.
Before the division of Berlin, Potsdamer Platz was a busy transport hub and a centre of social and cultural life. After the war and the construction of the Wall, however, it lay in no man's land, separated by the border between East and West.
Today, Potsdamer Platz is a modern neighbourhood that still reflects the history of division.
