The quacking of the mallard is probably the most familiar thing we hear when we visit the duck pond. In spring, we are delighted when the first fluffy chicks conquer the water. They used to be called wild ducks. However, as the name is very imprecise, it was agreed to call them mallards. The name comes from the fact that they like to build their nests on willows, bents and reedbeds.
