Doux means soft in French. The work was shot in southern France. While travelling, I made a project about femininity.
What does being a woman actually mean? Where do I recognise femininity? With my camera, I went exploring. In these times a challenging questions, but also beautiful questions that allow everyone to find their own answers. With my camera I found answers, I captured multiple aspects of femininity in different images. If you are curious about this, take a look at my other images.
In the image Doux, I catch light in the darkness. But also the beauty and aesthetic form of women. The freedom and heaviness of being and being allowed to get lost in the world.
The work has a soft dreamy atmosphere you can dream away at. It inspires me to get lost again and enjoy the adventure it brings. Despite the fact that it is a soft image because of the use of colour, it has a kind of depth and stratification that makes you want to keep looking at it. When you have the sculpture hanging at home, the sculpture keeps reminding you that you can take on the world alone, and that you may see beauty in the moments you get lost.
The sculpture is available in different sizes, namely:
15x22.5cm
30x45cm
60x90cm
