Het Eiland van Dordrecht wordt omringd door verschillende grote waterwegen: naast de Beneden-Merwede en de Oude Maas zijn dat de Nieuwe Merwede, Hollands Diep en Dordtsche Kil.Het water in Dordrecht ligt over het algemeen iets onder NAP, bijvoorbeeld -1,50 meter. Het hoogste natuurlijke punt van het Eiland van Dordrecht is de Kop van de Oude Wiel met een hoogte van 2,60 meter boven NAP.Het Groothoofd is historisch grondgebied. Eeuwenlang was dit de belangrijkste plek waar vreemdelingen Dordrecht binnenkwamen. Heel wat prinsen van Oranje zetten hier voet aan wal, en werden dan op de kade vorstelijk onthaald.Maar ook hun tegenstanders kwamen hier aan, zoals de hertog van Alva. Het Groothoofd ligt aan het drukst bevaren rivierenkruispunt van Europa: de Beneden-Merwede, de Oude Maas en de Noord.De oorspronkelijk middeleeuwse poort werd rond 1350-1400 gebouwd en kreeg in 1618 haar tegenwoordige vorm. Het beeldhouwwerk op de poort is voor een groot deel vervaardigd door de beeldhouwer Gillis Hüppe (1576-1650). Hij kwam uit Luik en woonde vanaf 1615 in Dordrecht.In de poortdoorgang kan men oorspronkelijke gotische gewelven zien. Tijdens de verbouwingen van 1618 en 1640 kreeg de poort een renaissance-uiterlijk. In 1618 werd er ook een toren op de poort gezet.Aan de waterzijde van de poort zien wij het reliëf met de Dordtse Stedenmaagd. De maagd is gezeten in een tuin - omheining, die enerzijds haar ongehuwde staat symboliseert, maar anderzijds verwijst naar de onneembaarheid van de s

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
