Santorini from Italian Santa Irene is a Greek archipelago in the southern Cyclades, eponymous with its main island, most commonly called Thira in Greek after transcription from Ancient Greek Θήϱα also Thera, meaning "hunt" or "hunting prey"). Santorini was inhabited by about 15,550 inhabitants in 2011. Since the 2010 administrative reform, it is also a municipality (Greek dimos) in the South Aegean region under the name Thira.
Thira (Santorini) and Therasia, in the Cyclades, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it has been part of the municipality of Santorini, of which it is a municipal unit. It covers the whole island of Therasia and the northwesternmost part of Santorini, which it shares with the municipal unit of Santorini. The main street is named Nikolaou Nomikou. The population was 1,545 inhabitants at the 2011 census, and the land area is 19.449 km2.
Santorini , is a ringvormige eilandengroep in de Egeïsche Zee, die bij de Cycladen horen. It lies ten north of Crete, ten south of Naxos and Paros. Het grootste eiland heeft dezelfde naam, Santorini of Thira. In the archipelago lie the islands Thira, Thirasia, Aspronisi, Paléa Kaméni, Néa Kaméni and at about 20 km Christiani. The front of the island group is due to the Minoïsche uitbarsting ontstaan, an enormous eruption of the volcano which stood therearvoor. The capital is Thira.
