The Mercuur is a former Dutch ocean minesweeper. This oldest wooden minesweeper of the Royal Navy was later converted into a torpedo battleship and is part of the Maritime Heritage. The Mercuur lies in Perry's Dock in Flushing. Perry's Dock in Flushing is the oldest preserved dry dock in the Netherlands and one of the oldest in Western Europe. It was built in the years 1704-1705 to a 1697 design by Englishman John Perry. Since 1964, the dock has enjoyed protected status as a national monument. In the background, the Scheldt crane is visible. This crane symbolises Vlissingen's maritime history and potential.
