Every step through my backyard in picturesque Midden Delfland feels like opening a new chapter full of natural wonders. With camera in hand, I search for hidden birds hiding in the reeds or high in the trees. Often I hear them before I see them, but patience is the key. It's peering at something moving in the trees or sleuthing through the reeds until something catches your attention.
This artwork was inspired by a walk through the Vockestaert, an area between Delft and Schiedam. There I discovered my first Goldfinch and Bluethroat, and there I also found my favourite bird, the Bearded Tit. The image of this winged friend arose from that memory, a photograph combined with an abstract, flowing background, further developed in MidJourney.
The soft, warm tones in the artwork flow harmoniously together, with a watercolour-like texture blending the bird into the background. The composition places the Bearded Bird at the centre, while abstract shapes around it create a dreamy, ethereal atmosphere. The warm colours evoke the atmosphere of a rising sun, while cooler tones suggest the freshness of a winter walk. Because even in winter, I like to stay out and about.
This work is a perfect eye-catcher that exudes tranquillity and elegance. The subtle textures and colours create a painterly effect, ideal for various interior styles, from minimalist Scandinavian to warm country. It brings a piece of nature and serenity to any room.
