Deer on the Hoge Veluwe in the rutting season. From about the second week of September is the rutting season of red deer. The males then bellow at the top of their lungs to impress their ladies, but also their rivals. The males then bellow to impress their females, but also rival males, who are challenged to fight for the right to mate with the females. The belling takes place in the morning and evening twilight and can be heard from far away.
