photo near Rijs Deer in autumn landscape Deer are found in almost all of Europe, with a preference for park landscapes, in which there is an alternation of forest, meadow, field and heath. But roe deer can also live in other types of terrain, as long as there is food and sufficient peace and quiet. Unlike most other cervids, the roe deer shows a distinctive place mourning. Only in the winter months do animals stay in smaller or larger groups, called jumps; packs, as in red deer, do not occur in roe deer. In spring these jumps break up and then the older animals usually return to the place where they had their territory the previous year.Young animals then seek out a suitable area where they can settle for the first time.
