Decorative folk art owl on a branch (AI) (autumn, tranquil, soft, colours, bohemian, folklore) by Natalie Bruns

This warm watercolour painting depicts a graceful owl perched peacefully on a decorative tree branch, surrounded by leaves, berries, snowflakes and folkloric details. The combination of autumnal hues and refined patterns gives the painting a cosy and narrative feel. The small decorations in the owl’s feathers are particularly striking: subtle flowers, dots and graceful lines that add extra character to the work without becoming overwhelming.

The colour palette consists of soft earth tones such as warm orange, rust brown, beige, olive green and cream. These colours create a cosy and tranquil atmosphere that is perfectly suited to autumn and winter. Despite the warm tones, the painting feels light and friendly thanks to the soft watercolour texture and the playful composition.

This watercolour work is inspired by Scandinavian folklore, in which simple shapes, graceful floral motifs and decorative birds come together to form a warm and narrative image. The style is deliberately playful and stylised, with soft colours and folkloric details reminiscent of traditional folk art. As a result, the work fits beautifully into a cosy, rustic or Scandinavian interior, but also in a child’s bedroom or creative space where softness and imagination take centre stage.

Within my folklore series, I have incorporated several animals, including a whale, fish, fox, cat, alpaca, deer, butterfly and various owls. This collection can be found in my personal shop under the album “creative mix”.

My love of animals and my interest in other cultures and art styles have inspired me to create this series of paintings using AI.
