The Iron Cape is on the national monument list and was restored in 2010 by the municipality of Texel. The cape is highly valued from both an architectural and maritime historical point of view. It is a rare example of a fireproof beacon with a cast iron construction that is still in good condition. The beacon still forms a striking landmark on the dike near Oosterend, both from the water and from the land.
Together with the church tower of the NH church in Oosterend, the IJzeren Kaap formed a line of beacons which served the ships, particularly in the eastern part of the Texel stream.
