Here the iconic Koningshavenbrug in Rotterdam, also known as the Hef. Designated a national monument since the year 2000.
Like the rest of Rotterdam, this bridge did not remain intact during the Second World War and was partly destroyed.
It was one of the structures to be restored first.

The cost of maintenance each year was one of the main reasons for supporters of demolition to demolish De Hef.
Fortunately, a large majority of the City Council was able to stop the demolition.
