De Havilland Vampire is a single engine fighter developed and manufactured by De Havilland Aircraft Company. The aircraft was introduced to the Royal Air Force in 1945. It was the Royal Air Force's second fighter jet after the Gloster Meteor.
When the aircraft entered service, World War II had just ended and it therefore played no role in the victory over Nazi Germany.
This photo was taken on 17 September 2017 during the airshow at Naval Air Station Oceana. The aircraft in the photo was built under licence by F+W Emmen for the Swiss Air Force.
