Datsun Sports is almost unknown in Europe, but even more so in the USA, if we leave out the manufacturer Nissan from Japan, apart from that it was sold in its home country as Datsun Fairlady through all series. Especially in the USA, but also in Japan, it was driven to numerous racing events, including the Tulip Rally and Rally Monte Carlo in 1968 and 1969 respectively. At the Rally Monte Carlo it was 9th overall and 3rd place in its class. At the Tulip Rally, Datsun Sports won its class and 3rd and 5th place overall.
Within the construction period of 1959-1970 there were 6 series, whereby the series from 1963 to 1970 hardly differ externally, but the engines used did show large differences in performance.
The Datsun Sports 1600 series photographed by me was built the longest, from 1965-1970, followed by the Datsun 240Z/260Z/280Z, which is also rarely seen in Europe. The Datsun Sports 1600 was built about 30.000 times.
