The red house was built around 1760 by the cloth manufacturer and merchant Johann Heinrich Scheibler as a residential and commercial building. With its complete furnishings in the Rococo, Louis-Seize and Empire styles, it still reflects the glow of bourgeois residential culture in a strangely closed setting.
