The northern tip of the Darß peninsula is called "Darßer Ort". Masses of sand from Fischland and Darßer Weststrand are deposited here by the current.
Where sandbanks were initially silted up, a barren heath landscape emerges, followed by scattered bushes and conifers and later forest. The Darßer Ort is a nature reserve (national park), but visitors can explore the landscape on a circular path, which is laid out as a wide wooden plank path, and with the help of small observation towers.
