About "Dark and light: Drops on a fluff of the morning star (Tragopogon)"

by Marjolijn van den Berg

About the artwork

"Dark and light: Drops on a fluff of the morning star (Tragopogon)" is an extreme macro photo of a fluff of a morning star (Tragopogon). Hanging from this tiny fluff are lots of water droplets that look just like copper balls reflecting the light. If you zoom in on the photo, you can see this clearly. You can also see that the focus in this photo is at the point where the stalk turns into the fluff. From this point, you can see that the sharpness lies in one plane and everything in front and behind this point slowly fades away. For example, you can see a piece of fluff faintly in the background.
This blurring of foreground and background ( mainly background in this picture) creates a depth in the work. In addition, this work has a high contrast, it is a relatively dark work with light reflected in the drops.
This work could hang beautifully as wall decoration in the bedroom, waiting room or hallway, for example.
