The dandelion is a common flower in the Netherlands. They create yellow fields and meadows, especially in early spring. It is a flower that is indispensable in the Netherlands. That this plant is also edible and also very healthy many people do not know. The young leaves can be eaten as a salad and the flowers and roots can be made into syrup and tinctures.
That they are so common will also be due to the dispersal tactics of this flower. The seeds, which are attached to a kind of umbrella, are carried along on the wind and fall further away from the mother plant. People, especially children, like to give nature a helping hand by blowing against the fluffy balls, thus spreading them.
I find this fluff ball stage one of the most fun moments to photograph this flower. Preferably with a small depth of field in order to get some depth in the photo and therefore also a nice blurred background.
