The pasture jam (Calopteryx splendens) is a 45 to 48 mm damselfly from the Calopterygidae family, which is quite common in flowing water of reasonable quality in the Netherlands and Belgium. In the west of the Netherlands he is rare. The species is spread throughout Europe. This damselfly flies from May to September, preferably with slow-flowing streams, but also in rivers and canals. Due to the butterfly-like flight they form a striking appearance.
