DEVENTER WILHELMINA BRIDGE AND THE WELLE AT SUNSET
Deventer is a municipality in the southwest of the Dutch province of Overijssel. With 100,718 inhabitants, Deventer is the youngest municipality in the Netherlands to exceed the population of 100,000. Deventer is the third municipality of Overijssel and the second largest municipality of Salland.
The Wilhelmina Bridge, named after Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, connects the provinces of Gelderland and Overijssel near Deventer. The bridge over the river IJssel was built between 1939 and 1943, but was blown up by the German occupying army on its retreat in April 1945.
