The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was an American fighter aircraft of World War II. The prototype made its maiden flight on 15 October 1938 and the aircraft was used until the end of World War II. A total of 13,738 aircraft were produced until November 1944, at the Curtiss factory in Buffalo, New York.
