About ‘Cuevas de Arguedas’ by Hannie Kassenaar
The caves on the outskirts of Arguedas near Toledo in Spain were created at the end of the 19th century and were used by people who could not afford a house.
In 1940, 52 families still lived in the caves. People gradually left their cave dwellings only in the 1960s when social housing was built.
