The Greek island of Crete is located in the Mediterranean Sea and is the fifth largest island there. It is located about 160 km from the mainland. Crete is the largest of the Greek islands. Gavdos, the southernmost point of Europe is located on Crete. The landscape is charming with its specific flora and fauna. Crete has four mountain ranges, the Ida Mountains, the White Mountains (Lefka Ori), the Dikti Mountains and the smallest, the Thripti Mountains. The climate corresponds to a uniform Mediterranean climate. Crete is so popular with tourists precisely because it is the sunniest island in the Mediterranean and guarantees vacations with 300 days of sunshine a year.
