We like to talk about a " raven-black day ", or the " unlucky raven ", when everything has gone wrong. There are many negative images of the raven, all of which have been fabricated. The Northwest American Indian tribes paint a completely different picture. Ravens are still held in high esteem and prestige there today. They are regarded as god-like creatures that have opened up the earth as a habitat for humans and animals.
