About ‘Common Velvetfoot’ by Marcel van Kan

The velvet legume usually grows in groups of several mushrooms. The (plate) fungus lives on trunks and stumps of deciduous trees such as elm, alder and willow. It is a typical winter mushroom. It is therefore not surprising to find it in January in the Watersley natural forest.
