In order to be able to photograph sedentary/quiet damselflies for once, I decided not to drive straight to work in the early morning but to make a stop at the Hatertse fens first. I had seen in the morning that the light was beautiful and decided to take my camera and take the gamble. Yes indeed, plenty of common Spreadwings to be found this morning. The nice thing about Spreadwings is that they are the only damselflies that leave their wings nicely unfolded when resting. This makes for great photos.
When this dainty creature landed on the pine needles, I saw my chance. The sharp-looking needles give the image something exciting. The beautiful light emphasises this atmosphere.
Passion for photography, where does something like that come from? The beauty is that every photographer will have their own answer. For me it flows out of being able to freeze a moment, step out of the day-to-day rush, and take my time for what I am.. Read more…
