She looks sideways obliquely. As if she just knows something you don't yet know. As if she smells your secrets from half a metre away. And yet... you want to know who she is. This woman is fireworks on canvas. A cross between a tropical storm and a bright rainbow that didn't feel like staying neatly within the lines.
With acrylic paint and palette knife, she is intuitively scratched, smeared and splashed to life. No plan, no sketch. Just: BAM. Colour. Guts. Expression. And before I knew it, she was looking at me from the canvas. Big eyes, a face full of pink and red as if she had just survived a jungle party - with style.
Her hair and ornament? More of a rainbow explosion than a hairdo. As if colour is the only logic that matters. She wears flowers without flowers. Beads without beads. Feathers without feathers. Everything is suggestion. Everything is feeling. Everything is expression.
This is not a portrait. This is a statement. An ode to women who don't ask, but take. Who fill space with their energy. Who force you to look.
