Cologne Cathedral - the city's landmark - photographed at dusk from the "Schäl Sick", literally the "wrong side of the Rhine". On this evening, the evening sky was particularly beautiful and invited to take a picture from the riverside promenade. On the left of the picture you can see "Groß St. Martin", one of the twelve large romantic churches in Cologne. After the lights of the city were switched off for a long time due to the energy crisis, the cathedral has been shining again since April 2023, after new, more economical lighting technology was installed. This picture is a long exposure that lasted about 30 seconds. Of course, this was due to the onset of darkness, but it was also intentional: the long exposure time gives the flowing water of the Rhine a silky sheen and makes it look somewhat picturesque overall.
Photography is painting with light. According to this motto, my pictures are created, whether as a long exposure or simply in the first or last light of the day.
