Coaster Douwent at sea near the south pier IJmuiden on the horizon.
Coaster passes the south pier at IJmuiden. Under the watchful eye of the pilot and curious glances of fishermen and ship spotters, the ship passes by. On its way to the locks of IJmuiden and then on to the port of Amsterdam where the pilot disembarks. And where the ship is unloaded.
A beautiful day to be at sea in the sun and quiet sea. No rough waves or a strong wind with strong currents. But a nice bow wave in front of the bow. And the end of the journey in front of the bow. And the harbor in sight.
The fishermen on the pier with great stories and day-trippers coming to spot birds. The ship holds course and continues her journey the crew comes on deck. The ship is prepared for docking in the lock.
Raw and the port as it is the people who work there. I like to photograph the images I see there because it is art in itself. The harbor is a different world. The landscape of the harbor is always changing. The ships, the people and the landscape continue to fascinate me.
