The original model of the Citroen BX, however, was the 1977 Jaguar Ascot study drawn by Bertone's head of design Marcello Gandini like a ruler. The beginning for the new Citroen BX, internal Code XB began as early as 1976. In any case, nobody wanted the angular Jaguar Ascot and designed the mid-range saloon FW11 for Reliant. Nobody wanted to have it either, it stayed with the prototype. And then in 1979 came the beautiful design for the Volvo Tundra, which now really looked like the upcoming twin sister named Citroen BX. The Swedes waved them off and the once again clammy French around the Citroën double angle bought or appreciated Marcello Gandini's grandiose lines all the more.
