Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a town and popular tourist destination in Bavaria, Germany, is known for its well-preserved medieval architecture from the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, charming picturesque cobbled streets and historical sights. The historic city centre is surrounded by medieval walls that people can walk along for panoramic views of the city and surrounding countryside. There are also several towers, such as the Plönlein and the Siebersturm, which offer great vantage points.

The heart of Rothenburg ob der Tauber is the Market Square, where you can find the Town Hall (Rathaus), a Renaissance-style building with a bell tower. The square is surrounded by colourful half-timbered houses. Rothenburg ob der Tauber is also home to St James's Church (St Jakobskirche), the Medieval Crime and Law Museum (which focuses on medieval criminal law and punishment, providing insight into the legal system and practices of the time), and the Christmas market, which creates a magical atmosphere during the holidays with its medieval setting and festive decorations.

Many people think the term Plönlein refers to a yellow half-timbered house in front of the entrance to the hospital district. The leaning house actually stands in the middle of Plönlein, which means "little place by the fountain". The Plönlein ensemble therefore also includes the fountains in front of the half-timbered solitaire and the two towers of the old city wall that tower to its left and right - on the left the Siebersturm, which leads to the hospital district, on the right the tower of the Kobolzeller Tor from 1360, which points the way to the Tauber Valley.
