The poinsettia. It is a plant inextricably linked to Christmas. It can be bought all year round, but is by far most often bought in the last month of the year. Because of its beautiful colours, this plant is very popular as a gift to visitors (or to buy yourself, of course). The bright red colour of its upper leaves contrasts well with the green colour of the lower part of the plant.
This colour combination also symbolises Christmas and matches well with the green Christmas tree in which very often red Christmas bulbs hang. This plant is difficult to keep, though, and if you buy it too early it might not make it to Christmas Eve.
However, if you want to bring the Christmas atmosphere into your home for weeks or months, you might as well get a nice picture of this plant in a colourful Christmas setting. Guaranteed atmosphere and cosiness. A picture you can safely put back away after the festivities and bring up again in the following years.
