Child is a human being from birth to puberty. The Convention on the Rights of the Child defines children as 'anyone under 18 years of age' (often corresponding to the term minor and/or person who is not an adult). In everyday speech, people speak of 'children' up to the age of 12 to 14, and then 'adolescent', 'teenager' or 'teenager'. In developmental psychology, one no longer speaks of "adolescents" and "puberty" but of "adolescents" and "adolescence".
