Remnants of a brickworks Ceres near Rottum, in the province of Groningen.
Near the village of Rottum, over a kilometre from Kantens towards Usquert, the remains of the Ceres stone and drainage pipe factory are visible. Construction of the brickworks began in 1857; it was closed in 1969 after production ceased the previous year. The factory is located on the Boterdiep, dug in 1663/64, so that the supply and removal of raw materials and products could take place via water.
